Slovenia - Krško Nuclear Power Station

The Krško Nuclear Power Plant is a 650 MWe Westinghouse designed 2 Loop Pressurized Water Reactor. This unit is similar to those built at Ginna, Point Beach, Kewaunee, Prairie Island as well as at Angra in Brazil and in the Philippine Islands. The plant, an important electrical power supply source for both Slovenia and Croatia, is located between Ljubljana and Zagreb on the Sava River. This photo shows the concrete outer structure surrounding the containment. The plant is operated by Nuklearna Elektrarna Krško (NEK), who have a web page describing the plant systems. Research supporting plant operation and training for plant personnel is provided by the Jozef Stefan Institute, located in Ljubljana to the north.
